Talk:Habari Powered Sites
From Habari Project
There was some discussion on 'Users' that Habari had outgrown a directory of sites. I disagree and am interested in such a list for two reasons.
- The list is a showcase of different themes and what is possible using Habari
- The actual content of Habari powered blogs is usually of interest (to me at least).
This page may fall into disrepair, wither and die and there may well be hundreds of Habari blogs in the near future but let's just give it a try.
The problem with such pages is that policing and tracking these sites are difficult. One day example.com is a clean and simple blog, next week, its vial smut, linked to by hp.o wiki. Who's going to monitor these on a regular basis? and when I say regular, I mean weekly at the min?
.p.s - I do not have issue with adult sites using and leveraging Habari for what ever blogging/CMS purposes. I just think that having such a directory in a wiki that might get overlooked is potentially bad idea.
I think it is quite interesting to have a list of Habari powered sites (and this makes my list obsolete, so I'll take it down), if only because users coming along and adding their blogs shows up in the changes feed, so the welcoming committee can descend upon them. It will become less useful and interesting when the number of sites grows, and when we have proper theme and plugin directories. I think it's worth the risk. michaeltwofish 02:00, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
miklb - Good point about the possible abuse contaminating the directory. If you Google for 'Powered by Habari', you encounter some sites that ran Habari at some point but have regressed to an alternative platform. I will endeavour to police the list on a regular basis.
