What Needs To Be Decided

Fixed width or Fluid

I don't think there's any reason to use a fluid layout in the admin. - RandyWalker 02:25, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I think if we do not have a fluid width, we need to make sure there is a mobile version available. Honestly, I think fluid with (and light use of images) would be a good goal for the admin since it is an area where *efficiency* of both bandwidth and screen real estate is integral. arthus 03:55, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Minimum screen resolution to design for

According to stats [1] found on a quick Google search, 800x600s are below 10% and decreasing. 1024x768s are about 50% of Internet traffic. Is it enough to set 1024x768 as a minimum? Do you have reliable, market-independent statistics? - Massimiliano 08:58, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

W3C says that 80% of users used 1024x768 or higher... in January 2007, one year ago. However, should our goal be aiming for resolution? This is only good for people who surf with their browser full-screen (mostly windows users who use it maximized). I'm on 1280x800, but I keep my browser window much smaller than that. - RandyWalker 03:18, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Even on my Mac laptop, 1024x768 is the optimal size. I support using 1024x768 as the target resolution, but degrading gracefully. arthus 04:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Primary "Habari Color"

I recommend orange as the primary habari color. Why? Well, for one, we've used it already (the ohio thingy: shirts and stickers). Also, it's a pretty unique color (you don't see it very often on the web). - RandyWalker 00:11, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I kind of prefer "rust" (#B7410E) which is orange-like, and not so "OSHA" and offensive to the eyes. - ringmaster 23:46, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Rust is pretty cool. I didn't have a specific shade of orange in mind. Rust++ - RandyWalker 09:38, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm not crazy about the rust color. What if we were to do something really "radical" (at least for the web) and use a greyscale color scheme? You know, in the face of all the Web 2.0 jazz and excess, Habari has an elegant and compatible style. arthus 04:03, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Additional Colors used

Of course white (#FFFFFF) and black (#000000) are a given. Let's also try.... #79AB1A (a green) and #DBE6F0 (a light blue). - RandyWalker 07:33, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
