Working groups/branding/community feedback
From Habari Project
So, what is Habari?
We all know it's a blog platform. But we're more than that! How can we best describe both in writing and visually who we are and what we do? Visual branding is hard, but it's near impossible unless we have a clear cut idea about what we want.
So, in an effort to try and gather some common ground that could serve as a basis for something like we want all of you to provide some feedback.
As an inclusive community we are looking to you to help us define ourselves. working_groups/branding has some links to existing discussions and commentary, but don't let that stop you from thinking fresh. After all, we need all the feedback we can get and get started on building a strong brand for ourselves.
Please give this a quick thought, and provide some simple feedback. Keywords, sentences and symbolism is encouraged.
To get us started, this is my list:
- We know the name.
- We know that we want to be open and inclusive.
- We know that it's about _your_ content, not the product.
- We're not like everyone else, we shouldn't look it either.
- We're a community, not a commercial entity. Branding should reflect that.
Here is one of the logos that I made several month ago when thinking about how the Habari should feel. If this is not the right place for this kind of brainstorming stuff, please feel free to move it where appropriate.
Khaled Abou Alfa also made a logo for Habari. I'm not familiar with editing Wikis so here is the link to his blog and the proposed Habari logo & branding elements: http://www.brokenkode.com/habari/
